DreamWear Nasal Mask: FitPack with Updated Arms – Philips Respironics
The popular DreamWear nasal CPAP mask from Philips Respironics now comes with updated headgear to enhance the mask’s stability and prevent slipping during the night. The revised DreamWear mask with arms retains all the innovation from the original version. A soft silicone frame and over the head elbow connection keep vision unobstructed and permit varied sleeping positions. The DreamWear Mask nasal kit comes with small and medium sizes of under the nose nasal cushion, small and medium sizes Frame, and The DreamWear Headgear with Arms. The modular design of the DreamWear permits using different mask types. The ability to quickly convert from a nasal cushion to nasal pillows provides the CPAP user with the affordable flexibility to find the best option for their optimal sleep therapy. The variety of sizes provided makes it the best option to start your therapy.
- Slip-resistant design
- Soft silicone frame with under the nose cushioning
- Over the head connection for tubing
Arms for exceptional mask fit and seal
The revised DreamWear headgear incorporates eyeglass like arms on the headgear. The arms connect to the silicone frame, curve back above the ear, and attach to the back of the head strap. The curvature of the eyeglass arms helps reduce mask and headgear slippage, letting you sleep soundly without a need to readjust during the night. Philips Respironics studied prior users of the DreamWear and found that wearers reported more satisfaction, better quality sleep, more mask stability, and greater comfort with the updated design.
The DreamWear has minimal contact with the head and the face. The soft silicone mask frame rests gently along the sides of your face and moves with you as you move in your sleep. The flow from the CPAP machine travels through the frame to the mask’s cushion. Since there are no hard plastic pieces, sleeping comfortably on your side is possible once the mask is fitted correctly. Fabric wraps are included in the Fit Pack and can be placed on the silicone frame if you prefer the feel of cloth.
The pillow type cushion on the DreamWear nasal mask closes around the bottom of the nares like a traditional nasal CPAP mask but does not fit inside the nares like regular nasal pillows. The under the nose design leaves the bridge of the nose and the nostrils untouched. This design keeps your field of vision clear, accommodates glasses, and allows you to easily read or watch TV as you drift off to sleep. Under the nose cushioning also prevents red marks and skin irritation.
Elbow connection on the head
The updated DreamWear retains the over the head connection to the CPAP machine. Flow travels from the elbow connection on top of the headgear through the silicone frame to the cushion under the nose. Most CPAP machines connect to the front of the mask at the cushion. This design gives you more freedom of movement and keeps the CPAP tubing behind you and out of your way all night long.
Sizing and Fitting
The updated Philips Respironics DreamWear Nasal Mask with arms comes in three frame sizes (small, medium, and large), and the nasal cushions come in four sizes (small, medium, medium-large and large). Careful sizing of both the nasal cushions and the frame is key to reaping the full benefits of this mask.
The cushion size is determined by the length and width of your nose. The DreamWear nasal pack includes a small and medium cushion to meet the needs of most people. Use the size guide to identify the best size for you. Select the smallest size that covers the nostrils and the tip of the nose.
The DreamWear Nasal S/M pack includes a small and medium frame. The medium frame fits most people, but if there are leaks or frustrations with tightness despite having the right size nasal cushion, you may need a smaller or larger frame.
To get the best fit:
- First, hold the nasal cushion under the nose.
- Next, position the elbow connector at the top of the head.
- Pull the headgear behind the head.
- Adjust the fit evenly with both tabs on the headgear.

Will my nasal cushion from my current DreamWear mask work with this new version?
Yes. The updated DreamWear is compatible with the nasal cushions and the gel nasal pillows from the original version. If your current DreamWear frame is still in good condition and not due to be replaced just yet, you can purchase just the headgear with arms. The new headgear with arms works with the original frame.
Are there any tips to be sure I get all the parts oriented correctly?
On the new headgear, the Philips Respironics logo in the back faces out, and the DreamWear logo is on the right. The arms are marked R and L for right and left. The R&L should face out. Line up the arrows on the mask with the arrow on the frame.
Final CPAPMan Comments
The DreamWear mask is well-loved by many sleep apnea patients. The eyeglass arms are a very nice enhancement and make a great mask even better. The backward compatibility with older DreamWear parts is a smart move on the part of Philips Respironics. The modular design that allows people to experiment to see if they prefer a nasal cushion or nasal pillows without investing in an entirely new mask really is a consumer-friendly decision. Packing in two sizes of frames with the new DreamWear Nasal Pack is yet another win for the customer.
