AirFit N30i Nasal CPAP Mask - ResMed
The AirFit N30i retains many of the CPAP user’s favorite comfort features from ResMed’s N20 series and mixes in new features intended to give the active sleeper greater freedom of movement. The AirFit N30i is an under-the-nose style mask that rests under your nose, leaving most of your face wide open. The nasal cushion doubles as the connecting link between the two sides of the pliable SpringFit frame. A top-of-the-head tube design lets you toss and turn, sleep in any position, and snuggle up close to your bed partner. The ResMed AirFit N30i nasal mask functions in any position with the tubing out of sight and out of the way. It is also compatible with any sleep apnea CPAP machine using a standard-size CPAP hose but does NOT work with the ResMed AirMini machine.
2021 Version New Cushion - Quiet Air Vent Technology
The new N30i nasal cushion has been upgraded to softer silicone material and redesigned to include QuietAir vent technology. The original hard plastic cushion was replaced by soft and comfortable silicone, which allows the cushion to flex while the air passes. The upgraded soft cushion is also more adaptive to the user's sleep positions. The QuietAir vent technology provides improved comfort, a reliable mask seal, and a less disruptive therapy that is 57% quieter than the previous design.
The cushion comes in 4 sizes: Small, Medium, Small-Wide, and Wide.
Key Features
- Comes in Starter Pack for easy fit
- Under-the-nose cushioning
- Stretchable frame
- Top of the head elbow connection
Discreet minimalist design
This mask is light as a feather with very few parts. A circle of silicone functions as the frame, headgear, and tubing to deliver CPAP airflow. The frame crosses the crown of the head like a headband. Two thin strips of slightly flattened silicone tubing extend down the cheeks, ending at the level of the nostrils where the nasal cushion connects them. A small piece of cloth headgear attaches to the silicone frame and rests behind the head. The integration of frame and headgear along with an under-the-nose style cushion leaves the center of your face almost untouched.
For active sleepers
The self-adjusting frame and top-up design keep all parts of the mask stable regardless of your sleeping position. Accordion-type ribbing across the crown of the head allows the frame to self-adjust, letting it stretch and contract into the best position for your head size and current position. The hose from your CPAP machine connects to the crown of the head to an elbow that moves 360 degrees with you. The quick-release elbow promotes freedom of movement as well as quick connections and disconnections from your CPAP machine. The top of the head connection not only keeps the tubing over and behind you regardless of position, but it also delivers CPAP flow through the hollow frame to the nasal cushion. Air vents are located on the elbow to help air flow escape away from you and your partner for a quieter night’s rest. The silicone is slightly flattened along the cheeks to minimize compression against the silicone tubing when you sleep on your side. Soft side sleeves are located on the frame to keep the feel extra smooth on sensitive cheeks.
Nasal Cradle
The AirFit N30i uses a nasal cradle cushion. This unobtrusive nasal cushion sits under the nose, cradling the nostrils. It does not fit over the nose like a standard nasal mask, and it does not fit inside the nostrils like nasal pillows. The nasal cradle has a supportive chassis on the exterior that helps it maintain a stable fit during active sleep. A septum bridge membrane provides additional support to seal out leaks. The thickness varies across the cushion: the center is thin and soft to keep the sensitive septum safe, and the side walls are thicker for added stability. The nasal cradle also contains air vents for exhaled airflow.
The AirFit N30i from ResMed may be an excellent choice for you if:
- You are an active sleeper who values freedom of movement.
- Over-the-nose masks make you a bit claustrophobic.
- You do not like your CPAP equipment to get in your way as you fall asleep.
- You breathe mostly through your nose.
Sizing and fitting
Size selection / AirFit N30i Starter Pack
The ResMed AirFit N30i Starter Pack is a good choice to get a perfect size.
Careful sizing of both the nasal cushion and the frame is essential to attain the full benefits of all the unique features this mask offers.
The ResMed N30i Starter Pack series comes in two frame sizes (small & standard), and the nasal cushions come in three sizes (small, medium, and small-wide).
Standard - The Standard Starter Pack comes with the standard mask frame size. Most users will prefer this size frame regardless of their cushion size.
Small - The Small Starter Pack comes with a small mask frame size. For smaller head users.
Both size starter packs come with Small, Medium, and Small-Wide cushions.
*Tip: adjust the headgear to make the mask fit you best.
For a more specific guide to selecting a frame size, please refer to the video "ResMed AirFit N30i - Selecting a frame size" in this product image carousel.
The cushion size is determined by the length and width of your nose. ResMed has a size guide to select the best cushion size for your face. Print the guide out and place it under your nose or use the one included in the starter pack. Scale up to the larger cushion if either the length or the width of the nose lands in the next size up.
Three sizes of cushions are included in the starter pack so you can determine in person which one fits you best. The wide cushion options (small-wide and standard-wide) are less curved than the regular-width nasal cradles. Consider trying a wide-size cushion if your nostrils feel pinched or you do not perceive enough flow despite using the right-size cushion based on the gauge.
Although the nasal cradle differs from nasal pillows, use the nasal pillows setting on ResMed AirSense 10, AirCurve 10, and S9 machines. Ask your provider or DME company what setting to use with other CPAP machines.
Note: The AirFit N30i Nasal CPAP Mask is not compatible with the AiMini Travel Auto CPAP machine.
Fitting and adjusting
- Attach the rear headgear piece to the frame and pull over your head, positioning the elbow at the crown of your head.
- Now place the cushion under your nose.
- Make tiny adjustments to the headgear until the cushion is comfortable and stable under your nose.
- Squeeze the two side buttons on the quick-release elbow at the top of the frame. Remove the elbow from the frame.
- Connect the hose from your CPAP machine to the elbow.
- Return the elbow to the top of the frame.
Troubleshooting leaks from the side or top of the cushion
- Adjust the headgear to stabilize the cushion and seal leaks.
- Do not overtighten the headgear as that can make the leaks worse.
- The top of the frame can be tilted forward or backward to help you find a comfortable position without leaks.
- Try a different size cushion or a different size frame if leaks persist.
Important: Air flows out of the vents in the cushion and elbow. Do not mistake this for a leak. Do not cover these ports.

I have always been a light sleeper so the quietness of this mask because of the diffuser is the real reason I love it. Don't be nervous about trying this new mask if you are worried about what size is right for you because it comes in a starter pack with all sized cushions. Easy! Here's a tip - don't forget to take out the diffuser when trying a different size cushion. I highly recommend this mask.
