Philips DreamWear Nasal Mask with Updated Headgear
The DreamWear nasal mask for CPAP therapy for obstructive sleep apnea is a uniquely designed under-the-nose mask, a hybrid of nasal pillows, and a traditional nasal mask. The DreamWear nasal CPAP mask has several unusual features intended to keep your line of sight clear, allow freedom of movement and enhance comfort.
The updated headgear with arms enhances the mask’s stability and prevent slipping during the night. The revised DreamWear mask with arms retains all the innovation from the original version. A soft silicone frame and over-the-head elbow connection keep vision unobstructed and permit varied sleeping positions. The modular design of the DreamWear permits using different mask types. The ability to quickly convert from a nasal cushion to nasal pillows provides the CPAP user with the affordable flexibility to find the best option for their optimal sleep therapy. The variety of sizes provided makes it the best option to start your therapy.
Unique Features:
- Under-the-nose cushioning prevents marks, discomfort, and irritation
- A soft silicone frame that also functions as tubing for air delivery
- An elbow connection to the CPAP hose located on the headgear
Minimal Facial Contact:
The pillow-type cushion on the DreamWear nasal mask closes around the bottom of the nares like a traditional nasal CPAP mask but does not fit inside the nares like most nasal pillows. The under-the-nose design leaves the bridge of the nose and the nostrils untouched. This design keeps your field of vision clear, accommodates glasses, and allows you to easily read or watch television as you drift off to sleep. Under-the-nose cushioning also prevents red marks and skin irritation.
Soft, Flexible Frame:
The soft silicone mask frame rests gently along the sides of your face and moves with you as you move in your sleep. The flow from the CPAP machine travels through the frame to the mask’s cushion. Since there are no hard-plastic pieces, sleeping comfortably on your side is possible once the mask is properly fitted. Fabric wraps are included in the Fit Pack and can be placed on the silicone frame if you prefer the feel of cloth.
Elbow connection on the head:
The hose to the CPAP machine connects to an elbow on top of the headgear, sending flow through the silicone frame to the cushion under the nose. Most CPAP machines connect to the front of the mask at the cushion. This design keeps the CPAP tubing behind you and out of your way all night long.
Arms for exceptional mask fit and seal
The revised DreamWear headgear incorporates eyeglass-like arms on the headgear. The arms connect to the silicone frame, curve back above the ear, and attach to the back of the head strap. The curvature of the eyeglass arms helps reduce mask and headgear slippage, letting you sleep soundly without a need to readjust during the night. Philips Respironics studied prior users of the DreamWear and found that wearers reported more satisfaction, better quality sleep, more mask stability, and greater comfort with the updated design.
The Philips Respironics DreamWear mask may be a good choice for your sleep apnea therapy if:
- You like to watch TV or read with your mask on before falling asleep
- You need to wear glasses and your mask at the same time
- You prefer to sleep on your side or you are an active sleeper during the night
- You do not like your CPAP equipment to get in your way as you fall asleep
- You prefer having most of your face free from CPAP equipment
- You breathe mostly through your nose at night
Size Selection (frame and cushion):
The Philips Respironics DreamWear Nasal Mask comes in three frame sizes (small, medium, and large) and the nasal cushions come in four sizes (small, medium, medium-large and large).
Careful sizing of both the nasal cushions and the frame is essential to attain the full benefits of all the unique features this mask offers.
The cushion size is determined by the length and width of your nose. Philips Respironics has a helpful size guide to select the best cushion size for your face. Simply print the guide out and place it under your nose. Four sizes of cushions are included in the Fit Pack so you can quickly evaluate which size is best for you. This is particularly helpful if you are between sizes with the size guide. The medium frame included in the DreamWear Fit Pack will fit most people but if there are leaks or frustrations with tightness despite having the right size nasal cushion, you may need a smaller or larger frame.
To get the best fit:
- First, hold the nasal cushion under the nose.
- Next, position the elbow connector at the top of the head.
- Pull the headgear behind the head.
- Adjust the fit evenly with both tabs on the headgear.

CPAPMAN Product Review
The Philips Respironics DreamWear CPAP mask is a game-changer in the world of CPAP therapy. Unlike traditional CPAP masks that can be bulky and uncomfortable, the DreamWear mask is designed to allow you to sleep in comfort.
The DreamWear CPAP mask is unique in that it sits under your nose rather than on top of it, making it a comfortable option for those who suffer from irritation on the bridge of their nose. Additionally, the tubing is designed to sit on the top of your head, which means it won't get in the way of your sleep, no matter what position you prefer to sleep in.
Many reviewers have praised the DreamWear CPAP mask for its comfort and ease of use. The mask is also available in three different types, including nasal, full-face, and nasal pillows, which means you can choose the mask that best suits your needs.
The DreamWear CPAP mask is compatible with all CPAP machines that use standard tubing, which means you won't have to worry about purchasing any additional pieces or adapters. Additionally, the mask comes in different sizes, so you can find the size that fits you best.
Overall, if you're looking for a CPAP mask that is comfortable, easy to use, and effective, the DreamWear CPAP mask is definitely worth considering.

All masks allow a certain amount of air flow-through to permit the exhaled breath to exit and not get re-inhaled. This one didn't allow enough flow-through. Re-breathing was too much of an issue to surmount, and the low exit volume also increased the apparent mask pressure. Adjusting the CPAP pressure only made the problem worse.
When I called CPAPMan support and explained the problem, the agent clearly didn't understand it at all. His response was that most patients take 2-3 weeks to get used to using a CPAP. I've been a CPAP user for 21 years will 100% compliance, I think I'm used to it. I asked him if he knew what "re-breathing" was, and even though he responded "yes", when I described the problem he said "Oh, I see". I was offered a return for store credit. I asked for suggestions on what to get next, he had none.
I returned the mask over a week ago but have had no response from CPAPMan regarding credit.
Overall, I'm disappointed with the product, but even more disappointed with CPAPMan's support of their customers.
Jim I am so sorry that happened. We think you are talking about the Exhilation port which there are 2 of. One at the front of the mask and one at the top elbow. We have not had any complaints on this issue and we are glad you returned it since it did not work for you. We did provide 100% back in store credit towards another mask on January 14th. I hope this helps and feel free to call me if you need assistance!

We are sorry to hear about your experience with the headgear! We do carry the cloth headgear, item 1116750, but they do not package them with the masks anymore.
It took a little time to adjust to the nasal interface as it is is quite different from the nasal pillows I'm used to. It stays in place by fitting around and slightly pinching your nostrils and the air comes through a horizontal slit in the plastic. It works pretty well when you get used to it. However, for me, the mask rubs where the base of the nose and upper lip merge. You know, that little cartilage thingy that separates the nostrils. I use lube but still, after four or five days it's sore and I have to go back to my Swift nasal pillows.
I wish someone would develop a mask based on the same technology that uses nasal pillows. But for now, I'll go back and forth until my nose heals and I can use the Dreamwear mask again without discomfort. Maybe I'll develop a callus there and I can wear it every night. Still, it's the mask I prefer - I'll just have to alternate for now.
Christine, I use this mask myself and I have NO trouble sleeping on my side and no leaks. You may want to try a different size cushion so you dont get leaks BUT I highly recomment the NEW Headgear with ARMS for this mask. Keeps it in place!! Item 1116751
As for a quick release, you simply pull the hose off and on.
I hope this helps. Thank you for your response:)

The answers were YES, YES and more!! This is the most comfortable mask I've worn since my diagnosis of severe sleep apnea three years ago. I can turn easily without displacing the mask and even with a thinner face, I do not have problems with fit.
Thanks to Cpap Man who helped me find this mask!!
