ResMed Swift FX – Nasal Pillow Mask
The Swift FX nasal pillow mask from ResMed pairs a smooth silicone frame with soft nasal pillows. The streamlined design leaves most of the face untouched and manages to maintain a seal with very few contact points. Three sizes of nasal pillows are included in the package, making this mask easy to fit for most people. The nasal pillow mask seals effectively for sleep apnea therapy with a loose, comfortable fit that reduces skin irritation and red marks.

Lightweight and unobtrusive
Dual-wall nasal pillows
The nasal pillow CPAP mask have a dual-wall cushion. The layered cushioning contributes both to better stability and staying power and to user comfort. The dual wall pillows also have a cushioned base that flexes with the movement of the wearer, reducing friction and chafing inside and around the nostrils. Three sizes of nasal pillows (S, M, L) are included with the mask so that you can find the size that fits you best. An XS cushion is available separately, as well.
Smooth silicone frame molds to your facial contours
The silicone frame adjusts to the user’s facial geometry and facial movements. The smooth silicone only touches the face along the cheekbones, so the face is mostly left untouched. The open-face design accommodates facial hair and leaves vision unobstructed. Side sleeping, back sleeping, and even stomach sleeping are possible. Wearing glasses, reading and watching TV with the mask in place are all no problem. With so few points of contact, facial marks and skin irritation are barely a worry. Fabric wraps are also included in the package to place over the cheek straps as an optional, additional layer of softness.
Loose, stable, comfortable fit
This mask only has three primary parts: the silicone frame, the back strap headgear, and the nasal pillows. These three parts work together to create a stable seal for effective CPAP therapy while allowing a loose fit. A zip-tie like crown strap pulls the nasal pillows higher into the nose, and the side straps pull the pillow closer to the face. The strap across the back of the head does not use a buckle, so the strap lies flat against the head. A twelve-inch length of tubing connects to the pillows with a swivel adapter. The tubing flexes instead of pulling; as a result, it absorbs motion instead of pulling down on the nasal pillows, allowing the pillows to stay in place.
Sizing and Fitting
The nasal pillows should fit comfortably at the entrance to the nose. The silicone tips should fill the nostrils without spilling over. Choose the largest size that fits snugly without bulging. It comes with small, medium, and large nasal pillows. One of these three sizes fits most people but an XS pillow is also available separately if needed.
Hold the nasal pillows in the nose with one hand.
Hold the headgear by the head strap, with the head strap positioned at top.
Pull the headgear over the head, guiding the head strap to the back of the head.
The side straps along the cheeks should rest midway between the eye and ears, neither too far forward nor too far back.
First, adjust the ribbed crown strap at the top of the head. This strap pulls the mask up into the nose.
Next, adjust the back strap. The back strap should sit midway across the back of the head, not too high or low.
Adjusting for leaks
Verify pillow is in place correctly with the ResMed logo facing up.
Squeeze pillow sides to be sure the inner wall is in the correct position.
Clean the nasal pillows. Oil, dirt, and makeup can cause slippage.
Try a different size of nasal pillows.

How does the Swift FX for Her differ from the Swift FX?
The Swift FX for Her uses a slightly headgear, includes an extra-small nasal pillow along with a small and medium pillow. The Swift FX for Her also has an appealing color palette.
I always get a little lost when putting on a new mask. Any tips for getting it oriented?
Hold the mask by the head strap with the head strap in the topmost position (not dangling down). The ResMed logo should face up on the nasal pillow. Tabs on the back of the head strap should face outward. Finally, position the soft wraps with the fasteners and seam facing out, i.e., not against the cheeks.
I have long hair. Will this mask work for me?
Sure. Just pull hair out and over the back strap then make mask adjustments.
The Swift FX has been around since 2011. It is one of the earlier released nasal pillow masks with a minimal design. This mask continues to be a favorite of many sleep apnea users because the cushions are springy and the head gear is really quite simple to adjust. The mask also retains its fit night after night so the user just pulls it on and moves on with bedtime. Order one from CPAPMan and find out for yourself why the Swift FX continues to be such a popular nasal pillow mask with sleep apnea patients!
