While it weighs about 1 pound more than the G4, the G5 offers twice the battery life with its 8-cell (single) and 16-cell (double) battery options. The Inogen G5 concentrator also offers 6 flow settings, whereas the G4 only has 3 flow settings.

Can the Inogen G5 run without a battery?
While technically possible, Inogen advises against operating the Inogen One G5 without batteries. When using the concentrator with the G5 AC power supply or G5 DC power adapter, it is recommended to keep a properly inserted G5 battery.
