Keep yourself and your sleep apnea equipment healthy by cleaning your CPAP machine daily with the SoClean CPAP sanitizer and cleaner. This sanitizing machine can clean all parts of your CPAP equipment. We recommend you pay special attention to the pieces that are most likely to pick up bacteria — the mask, tube, and humidifier water chamber. This CPAP cleaner using pure oxygen, so the process is completely liquid- and chemical-free. An adapter is required to clean ClimateLine tubing with a ResMed S9, heated tubing for the Fisher and Paykel Icon, System One 60 Series heated tubing, and heated tubing for the Fisher and Paykel 600 Series CPAP machines.

FAQ

  • Why do I smell ozone in my mask at night when the unit ran in the morning?
    • The odor is not ozone; the equipment is being oxidized with activated oxygen, and that is what you smell. It is completely safe. To lessen the smell, make sure you use the neutralizing pre-wash; increase the cleaning time for 11 minutes for a few weeks, then decrease to 7 minutes; blow air from your CPAP through your mask for 5 minutes before using; and do not use fragrance wipes or any fragrance products to clean your CPAP device, as this will intensify the smell.
  • There is a strong odor after using my SoClean.
    • The first time using the SoClean you will experience a strong odor. This is the byproduct of the oxidation with activated oxygen of the old materials that may have been used to clean your CPAP equipment in the past, such as vinegar or scented soaps. It may also occur when a new piece of CPAP is introduced to the SoClean for the first time. The odor will decrease with time. You may increase the cleaning time to 11 minutes for a few weeks and then decrease the time back to 7 minutes. You may run your CPAP for 10 minutes before using it.
  • Why does it look like my mask is yellowing?
    • The clear or yellowish residue is usually just built-up facial oils. The SoClean will oxidize/sanitize any organic residue on the mask, but an inert (and sometimes yellowish colored) material residue will be left behind. Wash the mask out well with the pre-wash or with fragrance-free dish soap. This is the most common cause of yellowing. It may seem as if the plastic is yellowing, but the yellow color may be caused by a fine film of facial oil residue.

I had to wait to get an additional tank for my ResMed S10, before responding; because I didn't want to risk breaking the one unity I had placing the adaptor on it to run the SoClean. I finally met the 6 month criteria to get a second tank and have been able to alternate the tops with the SoClean. It works very well, but the claims of cleaning in minutes are misleading. The actual cleaning takes a little over 7 minutes, but the disinfection of the cpap takes a further 2 hours. Its' okay since I am not taking a nap or using my cpap right away, but if I were getting ready to travel it would be a hassle. For that reason, I won't go higher than a 4 on this. Otherwise, it works as advertised.

I really enjoy using this machine. It Makes cleaning my masks tubing and machine so convenient and just a breeze to clean. I don't spend any time at all trying to clean it by hand because this does it for me. It is kinda expensive than other other cleaning machines, but it does a great job and I think it was worth the money. Just think of it this way, at least you know that your mask and tubing is clean and you don't have to worry about getting sick!

Very convenient for disinfection. Easy to setup and operate. A bit noisy when the disinfection cycle starts. Good if it can remember the current time when unplugged for someone who needs to move it around very often. Also good to have an option of disabling the timer disinfection for someone who prefers to use manual.

Question I have a Dreamstation2. What cleaning device is recommended for it?
Thank you
Answer
You do not need any special equipment to clean your device. It should be unplugged once a month, and then wiped down with a lightly dampened cloth to remove dust. The most important thing is checking and washing/changing filters as needed. The grey filter is to be washed, and the blue filter is disposable about once a month.
