If you're having trouble getting an accurate reading with your pulse oximeter, here are some troubleshooting tips you can try:
- Make sure your fingers are clean and dry. Dirt, moisture, or nail polish can interfere with the pulse oximeter's ability to get an accurate reading.
- Check the battery. A low battery can cause inaccurate readings or cause the pulse oximeter to not turn on at all.
- Make sure the pulse oximeter is properly positioned on your finger. The clip or probe should be securely attached to your finger and not be loose or wobbly.
- Try using a different finger. If you're having trouble getting a good reading from one finger, try using another finger.
- Warm up your hands. If your hands are cold, it can cause vasoconstriction, which can reduce blood flow and cause inaccurate readings.
- Stay still and calm. Movement or an increased heart rate can cause inaccurate readings. Take a few deep breaths and try to stay still while the pulse oximeter takes a reading.
- Use a different pulse oximeter. If you're still having trouble getting an accurate reading, try using a different pulse oximeter to see if the issue is with the device.
