Product Description

Enhanced AutoSet Algorithm Technology video

The S9 AutoSet™ Auto CPAP Maching combines an intelligent algorithm with Easy-Breathe expiratory pressure relief (EPR™) to dynamically adjust pressure for maximum comfort.
Using ResMed's time-tested APAP technology, AutoSet™ continually monitors breathing, adapting breath-by-breath to always deliver the lowest therapeutic pressure, improving comfort and sleep.  Enhanced AutoSet is now able to differentiate between obstructive and central sleep apneas, so you can be confident that you are always receiving appropriate therapy and pressure.

* Features Choice of APAP or fixed CPAP, with or without EPR
AutoSet algorithm auto-adjusts to maintain optimal therapy pressure
The S9 AutoSet combines an intelligent algorithm with Easy-Breathe expiratory pressure relief (EPR(tm)) to dynamically adjust pressure for maximum comfort. Using ResMed's time-tested APAP technology, AutoSet continually monitors breathing, adapting breath by breath to always deliver the lowest therapeutic pressure, improving comfort and sleep.

CSA detection

CSA detection is now available in both the S9 AutoSet and S9 Elite.  It uses the forced oscillation technique (FOT) to determine the state of the airway during an apnea. When an apnea is detected, small oscillations are added to the pressure to measure airway patency. The CSA algorithm uses the resulting flow and pressure to measure airway patency and differentiate central and obstructive events.

Climate Control maintains ideal humidification according to real-time environment  The ClimateLine heated tube is the key technology in the Climate Control system.  It contains revolutionary technologies never before seen in CPAP tubing that
enable the delivery of Climate Control and unsurpassed patient comfort. The ClimateLine tube includes a sensitive heating circuit, which is automatically controlled by the Climate Control algorithm to deliver a constant comfortable temperature at the mask.  Located at the mask end of the tube, a sensor measures the temperature of the air leaving the tube.  Unique to ResMed, this feature offers complete temperature and comfort control.

Rainout protection without compromise

With traditional humidification systems, as the temperature in the room drops, so does the temperature of the air inside the tube. At lower temperatures, the amount of water vapor that can be held by the air decreases, and condensation (rainout) can form in the tube.  The ClimateLine tube maintains the temperature of the air delivered to the patient. This ensures that rainout is avoided even if the temperature in the room drops during the night.  By keeping the air temperature in the tube constant, the Climate Control
system can automatically adjust to changes in ambient conditions to maintain a constant, comfortable humidity level. Rainout is avoided without needing to reduce the humidity delivered.

Set and forget
Because the system measures temperature at the mask, the temperature you feel will remain at your preferred setting, regardless of changes in ambient temperature or humidity.

Smaller, slimmer, sleeker

The ClimateLine heated tube offers increased flexibility, more sleeping comfort and less mask drag.

Enhanced H5i humidifier
The H5i heated humidifier delivers market-leading performance.  Designed to seamlessly integrate with the S9, the H5i offers relief from dryness and congestion.

Out of the box humidification

The S9 automatically detects the H5i when it is connected. Once you have connected your H5i, you're ready to go.

Onboard intelligence
The H5i senses ambient temperature and humidity in the bedroom.

Two water tubs
The H5i is available with a standard or cleanable water tub:
* The standard tub is a one-piece tub that is designed to be replaced at least every six months, or as recommended by the healthcare provider.
* The cleanable water tub is easy to disassemble, clean and reassemble. It is also suitable for multi-patient use in a clinic, hospital or sleep lab.

What is Humidity?
A Quick Tutorial
Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. You have probably talked about humidity and hot weather, for example:
* When there is a small amount of water vapor in the air (low humidity) it is often referred to as a "dry" heat
* When there is a lot of water vapor in the air (high humidity) it is commonly said that it is "muggy" or "humid"

There are two ways of measuring humidity:
* Absolute Humidity - the actual amount of water vapor in the air
* Relative Humidity - the percentage of water vapor in the air compared to the air's capacity to hold water vapor

Did you know?
Relative Humidity varies with temperature. The higher the temperature, the more water vapor the air can hold. The cooler the air, the less water it can hold.  That is why when warm air cools as it travels down the tube, condensation forms on the inside of the tube and mask in a CPAP system. This condensation is knows as rainout.

Rainout
Rainout is the water, or condensation, that collects in your mask or tubing.  It is a common side effect of humidification.

Why do you need humidification during therapy?

When you breathe normally, your nose and upper airway add heat and moisture to the air. By the time it reaches your lungs, air should be at body temperature (37°C or 99°F) with 100% relative humidity (44 mg/L).  During therapy, higher air pressure can overwhelm your upper airway's ability to heat and humidify the air. Colder, dryer air can cause a sore throat, dry nose, mouth or throat, nasal congestion and a runny nose.  30 - 70% of patients experience these symptoms.

What's wrong with traditional humidification?
Traditional humidifiers:
* Don't monitor air at the mask
* Don't react to changes in air flows level
* The result is unequalled comfort and optimum therapy.
Easy-Breathe motor offers the quietest therapy available.  The S9 Series includes an enhanced Easy-Breathe motor.

Now featuring axial air-flow, the enhanced Easy-Breathe motor produces less turbulence.
The innovative design features foam and noise isolating materials incorporated into the base of the S9.  The result is simple - less noise.

Taking quiet to the next level

Radiated noise levels (the sound in the room) are the same as ResMed's market leading S8 II Series. With noise levels at 24 dBA*, the S9 Series is no louder than normal breathing.

Conducted noise levels (the noise through the tube) have been further reduced by 78%!* The result - a peaceful night's sleep.
Easy-to-use controls and color LCD make menu navigation simple and intuitive.  Market research has shown that patients do not like the medical look of standard sleep apnea devices. With its sleek contours and compact size, the S9 looks as natural at your bedside as a clock radio.

Easy-to-use features
The user interface on the S9 Series is both simple and intuitive.  With four clearly marked buttons and a large, color display, adjusting settings has never been easier.

Simple menu functionality
An intuitive interface makes it a breeze to adjust settings and customize levels:
* Turn push dial until the parameter you require is displayed in blue.
* Press push dial. The selection is highlighted in orange.
* Turn push dial until you see the setting that you require.
* Press push dial to confirm your choice.

SlimLine and ClimateLine™ tubes are exceptionally slim and lightweight, virtually eliminating tube drag.  Tubing has remained relatively unchanged for 20 years - until now. The S9 presents a revolution in technology with its exclusive SlimLine tube.
The SlimLine tube is the lightest, slimmest and most flexible tube in the market. It is also the most travel friendly.

Smaller, slimmer & sleeker
Compared to traditional tubing, the SlimLine tube is 40% lighter, 20% thinner and takes up 35% less space.
* Never be "anchored" to the bed by your heavy tube again.
* You can move more in bed without creating mask leaks.
You can have the same tube length without the bulk.  The result - greater sleeping comfort.

Smart-fit cuff design
The SlimLine also has a new smart-fit cuff design that makes it easier to attach and remove the tube.
