More and more people are becoming aware of Sleep Apnea and the wonders of CPAP. More people are getting into sleep labs and are getting prescribed to use CPAP in order to relieve themselves. As for most new CPAP users, most find it difficult to adjust or just basically get a good fit with their masks and machines. Some may find it too tight, others too loose, others even complain of claustrophobia. Some CPAP users dislike the feeling of the straps on their face and others just find it uncomfortable to wear the mask. If you are experiencing this problem, well, here are some tips to help you out!

First Concern: CPAP and Claustrophobia

CPAP use requires masks and people with claustrophobia are not really into the idea of any kind of enclosure and that includes mask. If you are experiencing this predicament, it is very important to voice it out to your physician. They will most likely prescribe a larger mask so that you will not feel restrained in any way.

Second Concern: The Mask is Too Tight or Too Loose

Pretty much all masks these days are made to be adjustable. You can adjust the masks by adjusting the head straps. These are just like adjusting belts and suspenders so there wouldn’t be any problem. If you find that the mask is still too tight for you, it is best to consult and have it adjusted, or have the straps replaced.

Third Concern: Strap Marks

Since the masks are put in place with straps, it is very usual to occasionally have strap marks. If you are bothered by this, there are strap guard cushions that are available for purchase. These are made with Velcro closure so it is very easy to use and to remove. It brings comfort as well as prevents you from getting strap marks on your face.
